Denice (DC) retired as Director of Human Resources Business Partners supporting Verizon’s Corporate Marketing and Legal and Public Policy organizations, which includes the Verizon Foundation. She was responsible for providing human resource solutions carefully aligned with the business units' strategic initiatives by focusing on Training and Development, Communications, Diversity, Talent Acquisition and Assessment, Succession Planning, Innovation, Employee Relations and organizational efficiencies. She has previously served in this role for Corporate Real Estate, Sourcing, Global Wholesale, Operational Excellence, Network Services Group, and the New England regional operations during their merger spin-off transaction of ME, NH, and VT divisions with FairPoint Communications.
Prior to her tenure in Human Resources, Denice served as a Director in Network Services Group Northeast’s Customer Response organization. In that capacity, she was accountable for strategic planning and execution of a trouble reporting and analysis call center operation, employee engagement initiatives, as well as fiscal and regulatory objective attainment. Her team successfully completed center consolidation, implemented a multilingual group, commenced cross-functional teaming, and restructured the team to place a focus on proactive calling initiatives to improve customer service indices. Denice has over 15 years of technical experience in Operations Management and related process assurance and improvement.
A 30 year veteran in the telecommunications industry, Ware began her career with Verizon (then New England Telephone Company) in their 1987 college hire program and continued ascending into positions of increasing responsibilities. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resources Management and a Master’s of Business Administration both from Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts. She has completed the Wharton Business School Executive Educational program and holds a Project Management Master’s Certificate. Most recently, Denice has completed her Doctorate in Law and Policy from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Currently Denice has put her business savvy to work, HR consulting under her Nice Day LLC and investing in a small minority owned business, Keeping You Sweet LLC, which produces natural gluten free cheesecakes. The services she provide include executive coaching and mentorship to individual clientele on personal development, succession planning, travel, corporate relocation, and navigating the business landscape.
Denice, a native of Brooklyn, New York currently resides in Hollywood, Florida after residencies in Basking Ridge, New Jersey and Andover, Massachusetts. As an avid traveler and trip leader Denice has toured Ghana, Cuba, England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Austria, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Panama, Thailand, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, the United Arab Emirates, throughout the United States of American and the Caribbean. Denice is a thalassophile and a self proclaimed foodie who enjoys theater, arts, reading, cooking and entertaining.
Denice enjoys volunteerism and community service. She has served in numerous leadership positions including chapter president, with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, an international public service organization. Currently, she serves as a mentor in the Leadership DELTA, on Social Action committee, and as a chairperson for Arts and Letters committee. She also works on the board of the Brooklyn Technical High School Alumni Foundation and as a court appointed special advocate in Florida’s 17th Judicial district’s Guardian Ad Litem program. DC formerly served on the board member of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts for 12 years and at a variety of other service organizations including Jack and Jill of America and North Shore Women for H.O.P.E. (formerly Great Women to Know). Previous board appointments include the American Cancer Society, Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, and the former Springfield (MA) Municipal Hospital.
